When the chips are down

It never fails. Tell the Canadian people that there's a real chance that the Conservatives might actually win a majority and they respond with a hearty "Fuck that!"
TORONTO (Reuters) - Canada's ruling Conservatives have lost some of their momentum in swing parliamentary districts since Prime Minister Stephen Harper triggered an October 14 general election, a poll released on Tuesday suggested.
There's a reason why Harper desperately wanted to avoid any suggestion of a potential majority, because as predicted here, nothing will depress Tory poll numbers more than convincing Canadians that they might actually get the untrammeled power of a majority.
